Summer Fruit

I can't believe we have been in the city of Tbilisi for 4 months. Within those months we have eaten the best fruit, all locally grown and organic.

June was full of cherries small ones, little green sour ones, big plump red ones all for the fraction of the price we pay at home.

July we have had the largest watermelons I have ever seen. The melons are sold everywhere but the best is driving down the main highway and seeing car and truck after truck parked along the verge loaded with melons, we haven't stopped at these yet. Only once did I make the mistake of carrying one home from our local fruit shop.

August in now upon us and the grapes have ripened. Most houses around the city have grape vines growing including our apartment. These grapes are like the sweet little ones I remember eating as a child. I wonder, like the rest of the fruit in Tbilisi how many varieties of grape we will see in the fruit stalls.
