Over the last two weekends we have had some amazing people stay with us. We met the first group while waiting in Rome for our flight back to Tbilisi. It's funny how
anyone English speaking is a target to be spoken to, anyway long story short in a couple of months they converge on our apartment.
These 3 young girls and a guy are in the American Peace Corp working as teachers in the villages around Tbilisi. They have given up 2 years of their lives to help children learn english, while living with local families. Yes I can hear you thinking that they are some sort of weird, religious group trying to better the world but this would be far from the truth. They are trying to help and better the education of these children but to also educate themselves and like a marathon push themselves physiologically to places many of us have never been before. They left there relatively easy life's in the US to live in some basic housing, in sub zero conditions during winter while only getting paid a very small allowance.
Have they enjoyed the experience I ask, like most things in life there has been ups and downs but all of them feel that they are different from when they first arrived they say they have learnt a lot about themselves.
These are truly amazing young people who have had the courage to leave lives they know, have the commitment to stay and the wisdom to acknowledge and accept the change in themselves.
